I am the Arts and Foreign/World Language Program Specialist for St. Johns County School District. I am also the Community Education Coordinator, scheduling and managing evening fee-based evening classes for adults and youth, including World Language classes.
I have been a touring actor and musician, arts program administrator, classroom teacher, and operations manager of the St. Augustine Amphitheater before taking my currrent position. My interest in languages started with music, the universal language, and it is through music that I am able to practice and continue to learn other languages. I enjoy working with and supporting language teachers because understanding and respecting language is a step toward understanding people from other cultures.
I developed a multi-media classroom program, "Cantamos En Español," using traditional Mexican and South American songs, played on guitar, jarana, and harmonica, to teach Spanish grammar, vocabulary, and culture. It is available to teachers in St. Johns County.
